Carbon County Republican Women (www.mail.fastermac.net/blogs/CCRW) met for lunch at Fort Rockvale Restaurant on Wednesday, November 12, 2008, 11 a.m. President Manweiler conducted the meeting. The meeting began with an Invocation by John Beauchamp, the Pledge of Allegiance and MY UTMOST FOR HIS HIGHEST daily inspirational reading.
The special guests for the meeting were Veterans.
President Manweiler opened the business portion of the meeting. Amy Seymour presented the annual Treasurer’s audit which was read and accepted by vote. The Secretary’s minutes, Pat Plowman, were read and approved.
Presenting for the Americanism Committee was Jo Deane Downing, who will move this month to San Lius, CO. She began with an account of her recent chimp bite and continued with a reading of President Bush’s Veteran’s Day Proclamation, read by John Beauchamp.
Next, for the Membership Committee, Kelly noted next year’s dues may be given to the Treasurer now ($20 per year) and requested additional email addresses and updates from all Republicans. These may be emailed to kellyresley@gmail.com
For the Central Committee, it was noted that the last meeting with a pie social for special guest Leiutenant Governor candidate Steve Daines was a great success. The next Central Committee meeting will be January 8, where the annual Lincoln Dinner and lessons learned from the election will be important topics. Members had heard Governor Palin is soliciting speaking engagements, and all were enthused at the possibility of Governor Palin coming to Montana.
Next, the Rosemary Isto Memorial was discussed. Ann will bring more information to the next meeting.
Flag donations were also discussed. Suggestions are requested for places needing an American flag. As several Republican Women’s Executive meetings have been held at Resley Insurance, this is a likely donation site.
Election lessons were discussed as well as candidates for 2010. A hearty round of applause was given for all of our hard working candidates. Annie Halland volunteered to send a special thank you to each.
The next Pachyderms meeting (http://pachyderms.org/) was announced for December 2, 7 p.m., at the Red Lodge Pizza Co. with Jeff Laszloffy of the Montana Family Foundation (http://www.montanafamily.org/)
CCRW election results were as follows: President, Kelly Resley; 1st Vice-President, Judy Manweiler; 2nd Vice-President, Annie Halland; Treasurer, Amy Seymour; Secretary, Pat Plowman.
Special Guest for the next CCRW meeting will be Dallas Erickson of Montana HOME (Help Our Moral Environment). This meeting is scheduled for January 14. CCRW does not meet in December. CCRW wishes one and all a Happy Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
